Image Module
The Image Module takes AS/400 spools,
and saves them in one of 57 different graphics formats. Converting
spools to images means that the data cannot be manipulated,
and can be opened using standard graphics programs and web
browsers. Image-based storage also makes it possible to import
documents into Data Warehouse applications.
Common Applications
- Data Warehousing - the Image
Module can export bitmapped files directly to the data warehouse,
even while the hardcopy is being printed. This eliminates
the need to manually scan the printouts.
- Internet publishing - saving
to GIF or JPEG allows you to publish enhanced AS/400 spools
directly to Internet servers. This makes it easy to display
online "authentic" documents, such as invoices
and insurance policies. It can also be used to display foreign
languages, when readers may not have the necessary fonts
installed.
Benefits
- Compatibility Papirus
supports all popular graphics formats, making for trouble-free
importing into other applications, such as data warehousing,
CAD and image banks.
- Security - documents created
by the Image Module are un-editable and cannot easily be
copied, because the information is stored not as letters
and words, but as pixels in an image.
